Killer Lloronas and Other Misconstrued Stories at the Lobo Theater (Friday, September 25)
Far From the Tree Productions brings Killer Lloronas and Other Misconstrued Stories to the Historic Lobo Theater on Friday, September 25, 2026. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with food and drinks available all night. This is one of four performances across the last two weekends of September, and each night is its own chance to catch the show that has Albuquerque talking.
About the show
Killer Lloronas and Other Misconstrued Stories is a set of five vignette plays in two acts. Together they follow a young immigrant girl finding her footing in a new community, reading and misreading the tropes of both her own culture and the one she is growing into. The result moves between humor, heartache, and the kind of honest discomfort that good theater is built on. It is funny, it is sharp, and it does not look away from the harder parts.
The work showcases local talent from top to bottom, and it leans into storytelling as the main event. There are strong scripts, committed performances, and a point of view that feels specific to New Mexico and to the people telling it.
Who is behind Killer Lloronas
The Killer Lloronas is an Albuquerque based troupe of actors, writers, and digital artists who build plays and performances that put local voices on stage. Their goal is both simple and ambitious: bring strong, powerful storytelling to live theater and give Albuquerque audiences something made by and for their own community. You can follow the troupe on Facebook and Instagram at killerlloronas to keep up with the run and what comes next.
Plan your night at the Lobo
The Historic Lobo Theater sits at 3013 Central Ave NE in Nob Hill, right on historic Route 66. Doors are at 7:00 PM. The venue runs a full bar and has food and drinks available, so you can make a full evening of it without leaving the room. Street parking is available along Central and the nearby side streets. Tickets are 25 dollars through Eventbrite, and the best seats go early.
What to expect at the show
Plan for an evening built around five short plays, staged in two acts with an intermission in the middle. The vignettes move quickly and cover a wide tonal range, from laugh-out-loud comedy to quiet, heavier moments, so the night never sits in one place for long. The Lobo stage gives the cast room to work, and the theater seating keeps you close to the action. Arrive a little early, settle in with something from the bar, and let the story carry you.
