USA Poker Academy’s Poker Lab takes over The Card Room in The Lobo Sports Vault at the Historic Lobo Theater on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and it is 100 percent free. No ticket, no cover, no buy-in. This is a free poker night in Albuquerque built for everyone, whether you have never held a hand of cards or you are sharpening your tournament game.

Learn to play, or hone your skills

Poker Lab is a poker learning center and community, not a casino. USA Poker Academy coaches teach you Texas Hold’em as you play, in a relaxed, beginner-friendly room. Come to learn the rules from scratch, or sit down to fine-tune your reads and your range before the next big tournament. Either way you play real hands with real people, and you leave a better player than you walked in.

What to expect at the table

The room runs on coaching and good energy. Tables mix first-timers with regulars, the pace is friendly, and nobody is going to make you feel out of place for asking how a hand works. You will get hands-on instruction on strategy, position, and reading the table, all while you play. It is the easiest way in Albuquerque to go from curious to confident at a poker table.

Wednesday nights are card nights at the Lobo. The Card Room in The Lobo Sports Vault is the home for Poker Lab and for our Spades and Hearts games, with food and drink specials every Wednesday. By the end of the night you will understand how the game flows, and you will have played real hands to lock it in. Bring a friend who has always wanted to learn, or come solo and meet the regulars.

Poker Lab runs every Wednesday starting at 6:30 PM. It is 21 and over only, and a valid government-issued photo ID is required. Admission is always free, with no buy-in and nothing to purchase to play. Just show up ready to learn or compete.
