Groove Therapy at the Historic Lobo Theater (Friday, August 7)
The Lava Room is taking over the Historic Lobo Theater on Friday, August 7, 2026 for Groove Therapy, an old school throwback built for funk, groove, and house all night long. Doors open at 6:00 PM with a Happy Hour special from 6 to 7 PM, and the music runs until 1:00 AM, a full seven hours to settle in, find your people, and stay on the floor. This is a 21 and over night, and the cover is just $5 at the door.
The sound of the night
Groove Therapy is exactly what it sounds like. This is a night of funky, groovy, housey vibes pulled from the records that built dance music in the first place. Expect old school funk and disco roots, classic grooves, and deep house, mixed and blended live by a rotating cast of selectors who know how to read a room. The whole point is movement, so the floor stays open and the energy keeps building from the first set to last call.
The lineup
Groove Therapy runs on a deep bench of local talent, with seven DJs each bringing their own corner of the funk-to-house spectrum across the night. DJ Sin 7 opens the evening, followed by DJ Enee, DJ Fettucine, DJ LoSack, DJ Ken, DJ RedSilver (JA), and DJ 8-Bit Hero closing it out. The full set schedule:

The Historic Lobo Theater is one of Albuquerque’s most striking rooms. The Lobo gives you a big floor, a real sound system, and a full bar, all under the marquee on Route 66. Come dressed to move, grab a drink, and let the rotation carry you. This is a come as you are, stay all night kind of event, the type of throwback the Lava Room does best.

The Lava Room hosts Groove Therapy as a love letter to old school dance music, the kind of night where the DJ is the headliner and the dance floor is the main stage.
