AFMX 2023 FESTIVAL- Center Stage Conversation #7- Perfecting Your Pitch

Back by popular demand! AFMX presents the Center Stage Conversation, Perfecting Your Pitch Panel, where Christopher Lockhart (executive, filmmaker, and educator), Karen Criswell (Executive Producer, Koncept Films, former VP of Operations for DreamWorks Studios), and Matt McDuffie (HBO, Showtime, CBS, Fox, and Warner Bros.) and will hear practice pitches and offer constructive feedback.

Join our panelists and our semi-finalists as they practice pitching a script live to Hollywood executives and producers.

The three highest-scoring pitches will be awarded a cash prize of $500, $250, and $100, respectively.

All Center Stage Conversations are filmed and will be available on the AFMX website after the 2023 September 27- October 1, 2023 festival.

To be considered as a pitch finalist:

• You must complete this form to be considered to pitch.
• There are a limited number of pitching spots available.
• This panel is for educational purposes only. Panel members are not accepting project materials for consideration as part of their AFMX participation.
• Up to two practice pitchers per selected project may participate in the pitch.
• All practice pitchers must purchase an AFMX ticket covering participation.
• Those selected to pitch must attend a complimentary Zoom prep session scheduled for Sunday, September 17, from 10:30 a.m. to noon MDT.
• Entrants who do not complete all required information via instructions and form will be disqualified.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA, DEADLINE, AND RULES:

CRITERIA

• Must complete a submission form here
• Must have completed at least ONE of the following for the pitch:

1. a screenplay, TV pilot, or series
2. an outline of a screenplay, TV pilot, or series PLUS a logline
3. An audition video must be included with your submission.

• Film yourself pitching your project in three minutes or less.
• Upload your file along with your other submission materials via the submission form.
• Label your file in this format: PROJECT NAME_Your First Name_Your Last Name

RULES IF SELECTED

• Only one project may be pitched.
• Up to two people may pitch the project.
• You understand that the Perfecting Your Pitch Panel is for educational purposes only, and panel members will not be accepting project materials for consideration as part of their AFMX participation.
• You must be available to attend a Zoom pitch panel training on Sunday, September 17, from 10:30 a.m. to Noon MDT.
• You must purchase an AFMX ticket covering the pitch panel.
• You must be available to attend the Pitch Panel in person on Sunday, October 1, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. MDT.
• You may also choose to attend an in-person advanced pitching workshop offered through our partner and pitch panel sponsor, Albuquerque Film & Media Incubator, on Saturday, September 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Semi-finalists who wish to attend can contact Lorraine Montez to reserve a seat.
• You agree to keep your pitch to three minutes or less.
